You are always welcome to discuss the teaching
methods with us in person, by email, or by phone. We have
provided some information here if you prefer to read about
this online.
Many students prefer meeting with their
teachers in person because of the added benefits of being
face to face, or because they're not comfortable with
using a computer as an alternative teaching method. With
this teaching method you can visit your teacher at their
home, for a traditional style private guitar lesson. There's
no need to use a computer because your lessons are all
in person with your teacher. By being face to face with
your teacher, not only can you see and hear each other,
you can also physically interact. For example, your teacher
can pick up your guitar and tune it for you, or assist
with correcting your arms, hands, or finger positions.
This is an advantage over the computer-based teaching
methods.
You will have access to the tools available
online and the other teaching methods, which can be used
concurrently with this method. For example, you can use
the Correspondence teaching
method as a supplement to your lessons. Or, if you're
going out of town and you have a webcam, you can request
an Online Session, so you don't
miss any time learning. You might also enjoy playing with
other SC Students, with the Online
Classes or the In A Classroom
teaching methods.
The way you want to learn is up to you.
You can make each request one at a time, whenever you
are ready for your next lesson, or you can follow a routine,
using "lesson sets", and arrange regular weekly
lessons. There are two options: "At Teacher's Home
(Dynamic)" and "At Teacher's Home (Static)".
At Teacher's Home (Dynamic)
This option is designed so you can pay
per request, scheduling lessons one at a time. To request
an "At Teacher's Home (Dynamic)" lesson, you
first check the SC
Calendar, which will show your teacher's availability.
This includes the times that he or she will be available
and whether or not they are available for this particular
teaching method. Your teacher is assigned to you based
on your registration information. If availability is good,
you then add an "At Teacher's Home (Dynamic)"
lesson request to your Selected
Teaching Methods (STM) list. You specify the time,
for this single lesson request, and as long as there are
no conflicts, and you have enough credit in your
Account, your request will be added successfully.
For more details, read about the "At Teacher's Home
(Dynamic)" teaching method in the Terms
and Agreements.
At Teacher's Home (Static)
This option is designed to use "lesson
sets", so you can reserve the same time every week
for your lessons. To request a lesson set, you first
check the SC
Calendar, which will show your teacher's availability.
This includes the times that he or she will be available
and whether or not they are available for this particular
teaching method. Your teacher is assigned to you based
on your registration information. If availability is good,
you then add an "At Teacher's Home (Static)"
lesson set request to your Selected
Teaching Methods (STM) list. A lesson set consists
of 4 consecutive weeks of lessons, all at the same time
each week. You specify the start date and time for this
lesson set, and as long as there are no conflicts, and
you have enough credit in your
Account, your request will be added successfully.
You can maintain this block of time by adding an "At
Teacher's Home (Static)" lesson set every 4 weeks.
For more details, read about the "At Teacher's Home
(Static)" teaching method in the Terms
and Agreements.

and Agreements, then Register
