You are always welcome to discuss the teaching methods with us in person, by email, or by phone. We have provided some information here if you prefer to read about this online.

This teaching method simply involves you and your teacher communicating back and fourth with Call and Respond (C&R) requests, which are initiated by you. You request a C&R when you contact your teacher, by email, on the SC website, by fax or by phone. You explain your questions and the status of your progress. Then, within 24 hours, your teacher will respond with feedback and guidance, answering your questions and giving you your next step.

This method works well as a supplement to other teaching methods. If you encounter a problem while practicing between sessions, lessons, or classes, you can get help, allowing you to immediately continue, which speeds up your overall progress. If you prefer to use this teaching method on its own, it is best suited for self disciplined students. You will always have the support and direction from your teacher, but because you have control of your C&R requests, you also have the responsibility of your own progress. Also, keep in mind that because these C&R requests are not considered sessions, lessons, or classes, the response you get will be brief and to the point (5 to 10 minutes of teacher's time), clearly answering your questions and stepping you in the right direction as you continue your studies. For example, say you want to learn a particular song. Your teacher won't show you, step by step, how to play this song. Instead, he or she will guide you from what ever point you are at currently, to the point where you can figure out this song for yourself, by ear and by reading the music transcription. You teacher points you in the right direction as you learn what to learn to reach your goals.

Because there is no need to reserve your teacher for any specific time, scheduling is not a concern, so this method is always available for any student, at anytime. Determining how often you will use these requests will help you choose the best option with this method. There are two options: "Correspondence (Dynamic)" and "Correspondence (Static)".

Correspondence (Dynamic)

This option is designed so you can pay per request, communicating with your teacher on an only-when-needed basis. To request a "Correspondence (Dynamic)" C&R request, you simply contact your teacher, asking for help with your progress in music. A "Correspondence (Dynamic)" C&R request has no restrictions. You can make a request any day, any number of times a day, and because it does not expire, you can never lose a "Correspondence (Dynamic)" C&R request. Also, you don't have to add this to your Selected Teaching Methods (STM) list. This option is the best choice as a supplement to other teaching methods because it acts as a backup plan in case you get stuck, and it can be used anytime, at your discretion. For more details, read about the "Correspondence (Dynamic)" teaching method in the Terms and Agreements.

Correspondence (Static)

This option is designed to use "C&R sets" so that a C&R request is available for you once each day. To request a C&R set, you add a "Correspondence (Static)" C&R set to your Selected Teaching Methods (STM) list, specifying the start date for this C&R set. A C&R set consists of 1 C&R request each day, for the next 7 days. The benefit of this option is that you get 7 "Correspondence (Static)" C&R requests for the price of 3 "Correspondence (Dynamic)" C&R requests, so as long as you use more than 3 requests a week, each on a different day, you will benefit from this option. The design of this option will encourage you to keep in touch with your teacher everyday, which will result in faster progress by keeping your mind on music and your hands on your guitar. Even though the contact time is short, it is often. For more details, read about the "Correspondence (Static)" teaching method in the Terms and Agreements.
