You are always welcome to discuss the teaching methods with us in person, by email, or by phone. We have provided some information here if you prefer to read about this online.

To use this teaching method, you need a webcam setup on your computer. Once your webcam is ready, you can start requesting sessions. During your sessions, you and your teacher can see and hear each other through your computers, where you will experience live, private instructions. You quickly forget that you're learning through a computer because these sessions are personal, with a very real teacher at the other end. Compared to the in-person based teaching methods, this method is virtually the same, with one exception. You are missing the ability to physically interact, so your teacher can't pick up your guitar and tune it for you, or assist with correcting your arms, hands, or finger positions.

Because this method involves live communications with you and your teacher, questions can be asked and answered right away so each of your sessions can be completely understood. You are able to learn a lot of new ideas in one session because your questions are answered as soon as you ask them, which is an advantage compared to the Correspondence teaching method. Also, during this time, the focus is always on you and your progress, which is an advantage compared to the In A Classroom teaching method.  And, because there is no need for either you or your teacher to commute, this is an advantage over the In A Classroom, the At Teacher's Home, and the At Student's Home teaching methods.

The way you want to learn is up to you. You can make each request one at a time, whenever you are ready for your next session, or you can follow a routine, using "session sets", and arrange regular weekly sessions. There are two options: "Online Sessions (Dynamic)" and "Online Sessions (Static)".

Online Sessions (Dynamic)

This option is designed so you can pay per request, scheduling sessions one at a time. To request an "Online Sessions (Dynamic)" session, you first check the SC Calendar, which will show your teacher's availability. This includes the times that he or she will be available and whether or not they are available for this particular teaching method. Your teacher is assigned to you based on your registration information. If availability is good, you then add an "Online Sessions (Dynamic)" session request to your Selected Teaching Methods (STM) list. You specify the time, for this single session request, and as long as there are no conflicts, and you have enough credit in your Account, your request will be added successfully. For more details, read about the "Online Sessions (Dynamic)" teaching method in the Terms and Agreements.

Online Sessions (Static)

This option is designed to use "session sets", so you can reserve the same time every week for your sessions. To request a session set, you first check the SC Calendar, which will show your teacher's availability. This includes the times that he or she will be available and whether or not they are available for this particular teaching method. Your teacher is assigned to you based on your registration information. If availability is good, you then add an "Online Sessions (Static)" session set request to your Selected Teaching Methods (STM) list. A session set consists of 4 consecutive weeks of sessions, all at the same time each week. You specify the start date and time for this session set, and as long as there are no conflicts, and you have enough credit in your Account, your request will be added successfully. You can maintain this block of time by adding an "Online Sessions (Static)" session set every 4 weeks. For more details, read about the "Online Sessions (Static)" teaching method in the Terms and Agreements.
